Debz as new Blog Author

•December 1, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Yaaay my first post as one of BWoW’s blog authors, call me Debz / Debbie whichever is cuter.  I play in Bloodmyst as “Debbiez,”  – a level 70 human rogue.  I got my nick obviously, from my real name and well,  I picked rogue as class because i got curious with the stealth, sprint and ambush abilities, and i chose human as race since it was the only one who looked like a real person (lol crappy excuse for not scrolling up and down to read further about features and abilities).  The thing is, it’s only now that i realized if I would be given the chance to swap, I would have picked a female gnome coz it just looks cute and it laughs like a lovely doll – like it!

Allow me to reminisce a little bit,  BWoW was introduced to me by my friend since he knew that I got addicted with RPG games, I was playing Resident Evil then.    When I heard about it, I was like “say what?,”  I  thought it was a sound of dog or something like Bwow-wow-wow, little did i know, it was the popular World of Warcraft  game played by millions of people pretty much in all walks of life regardless of the age, race, occupation, status, etc etc.. This is one thing  i  truly appreciate in this community, the word DISCRIMINATION doesn’t exist, it’s truly a NO – NO.

The first guild that I joined was LOP (Lords of Pwnage) where I stayed for around 10 months or so, then I transferred to MTS (Meet the Spartans) til’ present.  Im so thankful that in both guilds I was welcomed warmly, and I got easily promoted to very high positions next to the GMs  (El Censor Grand for LOP and Elite for MTS).  Also, its being affiliated with these guilds that I have established friendship both inside and outside game.  Furthermore, I’ve also made friends in both factions – hordes and allies, I would have wanted to mention all these people but since this is purely introduction maybe i will in my succeeding posts.

I believe that BWoW is purely a game of fun and friendship.   We tend to get addicted to the game because of the community that we have shared part of our lives with.  It is through this that organizations continue to exist, discrimination totally erased, and people get involved into doing something to look forward to everyday.   Wow helped a lot in easing out our burdens everyday because it makes us forget problems momentarily not to mention the advices we can seek from our newly found friends and guildmates.

I hope my thoughts and insights can be of help here hopefully, you will see more of it in the long run.

I would like grab this chance to thank Belv and Jriske for their outstanding support,  I’d say im one of the lucky players, granted the approval to be part of the blogging community.

KEEP ROCKING BWOW!!! Feel free to post anything that comes in your mind.

Nice Day for a … White Wedding – Belveridius

WoW Wedding

Have a special someone in one of the realms that you’re just crazy about? Want to show her just how much you care? Well if that’s the case and love is in the air, why not have a WoW Wedding!?

That’s right! Time to show that special someone just how much you care.

Travel over to Booty Bay and purchase the WoW love of your life the Flawless Diamond Solitaire, “Will you marry me?” and “The Rock”. Don’t be chinsy and buy her the Cubit Zirconia now. She’ll know. She will most certainly know!

Then invite her somewhere appropriate, get down on one knee and pop the question!

If she accepts, and you KNOW she will. After all who could say no to YOU, right? – Then it’s time to break the news to all your friends and start planning that special day!

Perhaps you could notify a GM in advance of the occasion. Maybe he or she will be kind enough to attend and add a little flair to the event.

Here is a list of things you will need to make her special day a memorable occasion:

- A Priest – Have him prepare a few words much like a Priest would say in an actual ceremony.
- Wedding Dress – Made by tailors. Pattern can be purchased in Stormwind or Thunder Bluff.
- Tuxedo – Also made by tailors. Pattern can be purchased in Ironforge or Undercity.
- Engagement Ring and “The Rock” – Purchased at Booty Bay.
- Bouquet of Flowers – Any flower shop.
- Fireworks – Party Vendor in all the major cities.
- Bottles of Wine – Any wine shop.
- Perfume – Vendor at Cenarian Refuge sells this amongst other places.

Now, where to have the ceremony? Well at the Cathedral of course! If you’re Horde you can find something appropriate at Tarren Mill. Check your weapons at the door. Matter of fact, check your armor as well. Wear something nice. Put on your Sunday best. There are many colorful shirts that can be made very easily by tailors. So get those tailors busy so you can all dress for the occasion?

Notify all your friends! Give them advance notice and pick a date and time (Server Time) that works for everyone. The more the merrier! Everyone loves a wedding, right!? Make it HUGE event.

The Bride & Groom should choose a wedding party. The Bride can have all her bridesmaids decked out in fancy dresses, the Groom, all his men in tuxedos as well. The Bridesmaids start down the aisle first, followed by the Bride, as the Gentlemen stand alongside the Groom up at the Altar. The Bride may pick a gentleman friend to escort her down the aisle. Remember everyone, Walk. Don’t run!

The Priest should be someone who knows a little bit about the couple so his words will be familiar ones. A little role-playing experience would come in handy. The speech doesn’t need to be a long one. Just something traditional. (Example) “We are gathered here to together to join this man and this woman in holy WoW matrimony. Do you (insert name here) take (insert name here) to be your lawfully wedded WoW wife?” You get the gist of it. The Priest should have something prepared and written down so that when the time comes, it comes out smoothly and effectively.

The Bride & Groom may choose to have a little something prepared to say as well. What better way to say I Love You than to quote a special poem or recite a few words from your heart to each other. Pay no attention to those crying in the audience. It just means that they are happy for you.

Play it by ear. No wedding is ever the same. Give it some thought and make the arrangements according to how “YOU” picture “YOUR” special day. There is no right or wrong. Just whatever works for “YOU.”

After the ceremony concludes, everyone inside and out can shoot off their fireworks. Let the party begin! But only AFTER the Groom kisses the Bride.

The time for laughing, dancing and drinking has arrived! Dance right there in the street. Or have a spot picked out for the reception. It’s all up to you. There are many places in the game that can accomodate large groups of people. Take it by a lake, or even a floating island over in Nagrand. No drinking while on the island though! We wouldn’t want to ruin such a special event with the tragic loss of one of you not being able to hold your liquor and falling miserably to your death. Now would be a good time to show off all those cosmetic rewards you got from voting for the server!

So there you have it. Dance until Dawn. Make it the social event of the server. With some thought and advanced planning you can and will make it a very memorable event. Ideas will come to you as you work through the details. Have fun, laugh and DON”T FORGET TO TAKE PICTURES!!!

Best of luck to the Bride & Groom!

Two Impersonations?

•April 3, 2008 • 10 Comments
As I was playing my Paladin, I received a random /pm from Clevins. It read “gold plox”. What fun! Clevins is gonna play around? Awesome! So I type in /r “Lol. *Donates to Clevins*. A couple seconds later my from /w me “wtf?” Apparently, the character “Thestar” had been posting on the trade channel testing text mods and impersonation. Luckily, Minioiroke was there to kick the troublesome r-tard.Problem solved, right? Wrong. Not five minutes later did another trickster attempt the very same thing! Again Minioirke kicked, only this time adding an announcement, stating that anyone who impersonates a gm, will get kicked.Moral of the story: Don’t impersonate Clevins. Oh, and angering Mini is bad, mmkay?
Never, Ever, Ever Impersonate an official BWoW officer, or ANY member of BWoW for that matter. /postpone lulz

Can’t I Just Play Meh Music?!

•April 3, 2008 • 14 Comments

Hello, all. For those of you who don’t know me well enough yet, I love music. Most importantly, I love music that sets me in the mood for WoW. As for genre, rock/metal/classical. That’s all you need.

About 4 weeks ago, I started looking up add-ons that would play music from my computer while I’m playing WoW. Eventually I found one that seemed good. I downloaded it, put it in addons, etc. So I started WoW, got to the char. select screen, search addons, and found it to be *out of date*. After all that time it was out of date?! Then I went back to Curse. It was all good, because I found another addon. Too bad it was out of date as well! (Here’s a tip: at this point, I’m looking for in-game bunny’s to kill. Seeing as how I was in SW, I eventually just started picking flowers like I do in real life… Yes, I torture grass.) I give up!

So I decided to search Google about a week later. I’m looking, and looking, and looking, and finally I find it! *WoW musicplayer” (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/3444/) Lovely enough, it just happens to be from Curse. So I install it, get into my angry warrior character, and look for it. I can’t find it. *Sadness…* So I check the readme, and it tells me I need to add songs to the addon folder! I think to myself that it’s only reasonable. So I make a nice long list of songs for musicplayer and add them to the specified folder. I get back to my warrior, and play my songs. The first song, great! It was a lovely rendition of “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin. Musicplayer then trys to play “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath. No good. Phailure. I think, “it’s just a glitch. One time thing. No prob! It’s cool!” So it try’s to play “Only” by Nine Inch Nails. Epic Phailure! Musicplayer Phails again! Rawr!

After close examination, I discover that Musicplayer can only play .mp3 format, due to structure and such of WoW. *”Okay! That shouldn’t be hard! I’ll just download a format converter!”* I find some. Eventually I find a working one! XD I use it on my non .mp3 songs, re-save them to the directory, and go on with my rock. This time I get on my rogue. I would say he’s special because he doesn’t like to be in the lime-light. He doesn’t try bringing a lot of attention to himself, (unlike my warrior…) and is always quite polite when performing a Backstab>>>>Eviscerate. I try another song; “Ironman” by Sabbath. It plays the song. I’m happy! Except, for the part that IT LOOPS! Now I’m confused. Did I just download the song wrong? Oh well. Check another song! I try “The Hand That Feeds” by Nin again. Its just too much! random bits of the song are scattered, parts loop. Imagine taking a Cd, “cleaning” it with steel wool, wiping it with gravel, and and playing it with your bicycle tires. Yep! I’m to the point where I turn off my computer, and actually go to bed. The next day, I delete the converter and play WoW with Windows Media Player in the background. Oh well, I guess you can’t always have it your way.

I Don’t Give a Damn Bout’ My Bad Reputation – Belveridius

•March 25, 2008 • 3 Comments

Reputation

Nooooo! Not the song by Joan Jett. WoW Reputation! And if you have bad reputation, you SHOULD give a damn about it.

Whether it be from Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Aldor, Scryers or all the way up to Sands of Time – We want it. We love it. And frankly, we NEED it. But what a grinding experience it can be – Getting it.

Reputation is what allows us to distinguish ourselves from the others at higher levels. Yes, we can all reach Level 70 with a little time, perserverance and hard work. And sure we can purchase upgrades to our gear through the vendors and running instances. But what really differentiates us from the crowd? What allows us to buy the better trinkets, profession skills, etc. etc.? That’s right! It’s Reputation.

Combined with a solid knowledge of how to play your character, Reputation is what turns a very good player, into an elite player.

Let’s face it, as in all things in life, whether it be school, work, sporting events or whatever; we’re all looking for an edge. Reputation is what gives us that edge. It allows us to purchase things that make ourselves just a little bit better than everyone else. And this small edge is what can determine the outcome, whether it be in a duel, or on the battlefield.

But at what cost?

Some reps are very easy to acquire. They can be gained by turning in low level quests; a nice unexpected surprise in addition to the normal monetary or gear reward. But reputation is not always an easy thing to come by. Especially if you want the rare White War Talbuk mount; attained by achieving exaulted with the Kurenai. Or perhaps the Golden Spellthread; highly coveted by tailors; but the pattern only available if exaulted with the Aldor.

The point is, if you want these highly powerful items, you’re going to have to work for them.

If you decide to embark on one of these endeavours, it would be wise to do a little research first. You may find that not only can you receive reputation by killing mobs in the surrounding general area and running instances, but many factions offer repeatable quests as well. These repeatable quests allow you to collect items off mobs that you are already getting reputation for. Kill the mob and get 5 reputation. Then collect the repeatable quest item (a feather, a string of warbeads, a fel armament) and these can be turned in to the quest giver (usually in groups of 10) for much greater reputation rewards.

Plan on setting aside 2 or 3 days if you want to become exaulted with a faction. Yes, it can become a very taxing experience, but with a little perserverence, you will achieve your goal.

You may also find that with some professions, in order to max them to 375, reputation is a MUST. For example, You’ve hit the Master Trainer up for his last pattern, set of plans, recipe, etc. There is nothing more to learn from him. And you’ve exhausted every option on your profession tree of things to make. No more orange. No more yellow. No more green. Oh no! What do I do? I’m stuck! Well, the simple answer to that is, find a vendor that sells recipes for your individual profession, and then go grind the reputation needed to purchase that recipe. I can guarantee you that a recipe purchased by attaining reputation will open up the window you need which will allow you to continue leveling your profession.

So there it is folks. It’s all about reputation. Do you want to be an elite player, or just a very good player? It’s all up to you.

What kind of reputation do YOU have?
